Nilainya kurang lebih sebesar 8.854 x 10<sup>-12<\/sup> F\/m (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/farad-F\/\">farad<\/a> per meter), dengan ketidakpastian standar relatif sebesar 1.5 x 10<sup>-10<\/sup>. Satuan farad sendiri adalah satuan standar untuk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/capacitor-capacitance\/\">kapasitansi<\/a>, yang menunjukkan seberapa besar suatu bahan bisa menyimpan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/charge-electric-charge\/\">muatan listrik<\/a>. Secara sederhana, permittivitas adalah konstanta proporsionalitas antara perpindahan listrik (*electric displacement*) dan intensitas medan listrik di suatu medium, termasuk ruang hampa.<\/p>\n<p>Simbol permittivitas ruang hampa ditulis dengan huruf Yunani epsilon kecil dengan subskrip nol (<em>\u03b5<\/em><sub>0<\/sub>), dan nilainya ditunjukkan lewat persamaan pada Gambar 1.<\/p>\n<p>Dalam persamaan tersebut, terdapat simbol <em>\u03bc<\/em><sub>0<\/sub> yang merepresentasikan permeabilitas ruang hampa, atau disebut juga *vacuum permeability* (konstanta magnetik). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/permeability-magnetic-permeability\/\">Permeabilitas<\/a> ruang hampa ini adalah konstanta yang menghubungkan antara kuat medan magnet di ruang hampa dengan kerapatan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/flux\/\">fluks magnetiknya<\/a>. Nilai ini harus dipangkatkan dua dalam perhitungan permittivitas ruang hampa. Gambar 2 memperlihatkan bentuk persamaan saat angka-angkanya dimasukkan.<\/p>\n<p>Hasil perhitungan memberikan nilai <em>\u03b5<\/em><sub>0<\/sub> sekitar 8.854 x 10<sup>-12<\/sup> F\/m. <a href=\"https:\/\/codata.org\/about-codata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\/\">Committee on Data<\/a> dari <a href=\"https:\/\/council.science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\/\">International Science Council<\/a> bahkan memberikan data yang lebih presisi terkait nilai <em>\u03b5<\/em><sub>0<\/sub>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"default-list\/\">\n<li>nilai numerik: 8.854 187 8128 x 10<sup>-12<\/sup> F\/m<sup>-1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>ketidakpastian standar: 0.000 000 0013 x 10<sup>-12<\/sup> F\/m<sup>-1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>ketidakpastian standar relatif: 1.5 x 10<sup>-10<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>bentuk singkat: 8.854 187 8128(13) x 10<sup>-12<\/sup> F\/m<sup>-1<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nilai ini punya ketidakpastian karena adanya revisi pada tahun 2019 dalam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/International-System-of-Units-SI\/\">Sistem Satuan Internasional (SI)<\/a>. Saat itu, definisi beberapa satuan dasar seperti kilogram, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/ampere\/\">ampere<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/kelvin-K\/\">kelvin<\/a>, dan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/mole-per-meter-cubed-Avogadro-constant\/\">mol<\/a> diperbarui. Perubahan pada satuan ampere berimbas pada nilai permeabilitas ruang hampa (<em>\u03bc<\/em><sub>0<\/sub>), sehingga sekarang nilai tersebut punya ketidakpastian relatif. Menurut <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/NIST\/\">National Institute of Standards and Technology<\/a>, nilai <em>\u03bc<\/em><sub>0<\/sub> kini harus &#8220;ditentukan secara eksperimen&#8221;.
