Sertifikat Secure Sockets Layer (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/Secure-Sockets-Layer-SSL\/\">SSL<\/a>) sering menggunakan wildcard untuk memperluas enkripsi SSL ke subdomain. Sebagai contoh, sertifikat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/SSL-certificate-Secure-Sockets-Layer-certificate\/\">SSL konvensional<\/a> hanya berlaku untuk satu domain, seperti <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/domain\/\">www.domain.com<\/a>. Namun, sertifikat wildcard untuk <code>*.domain.com<\/code> juga akan melindungi subdomain seperti <code>mail.domain.com<\/code>, <code>vpn.domain.com<\/code>, <code>payment.domain.com<\/code>, dan sebagainya.<\/p>\n<h2>Keuntungan dan Kekurangan Sertifikat Wildcard<\/h2>\n<p>Menggunakan satu sertifikat untuk melindungi subdomain dapat menghemat biaya dan mempermudah administrasi. Namun, ada juga kekurangannya. Jika sertifikat harus dicabut pada salah satu subdomain, maka sertifikat tersebut juga akan dicabut untuk semua subdomain lainnya. Misalnya, jika <code>payment.domain.com<\/code> mengalami kebocoran keamanan, maka <code>mail.domain.com<\/code> dan <code>vpn.domain.com<\/code> juga akan terpengaruh.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatifnya adalah membeli sertifikat terpisah untuk setiap subdomain. Meskipun metode ini membutuhkan biaya lebih tinggi dan administrasi yang lebih kompleks, setiap subdomain akan memiliki perlindungan individual, sehingga risiko tidak tersebar ke subdomain lainnya.<\/p>\n<h2>Catatan Penting<\/h2>\n<p>Dalam era modern, penggunaan wildcard certificate tetap relevan, terutama untuk bisnis dengan banyak subdomain.
