Dalam konteks ini, baik elemen <i>hardware<\/i> maupun <i>software<\/i> komputer dirancang menyerupai cara kerja neuron dan sinapsis dalam otak manusia. Istilah ini juga sering disebut sebagai neuromorphic engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Para insinyur neuromorfik biasanya berasal dari berbagai disiplin ilmu seperti ilmu komputer, biologi, matematika, teknik elektro, dan fisika. Fokus utama dari arsitektur neuromorfik adalah neuron dan sinapsis karena dianggap sebagai unit dasar dari otak manusia.<\/p>\n<p>Neuron bekerja dengan mengirim sinyal kimia dan listrik ke berbagai bagian otak serta sistem saraf lainnya. Sinapsis adalah koneksi antar neuron. Proses ini jauh lebih fleksibel, adaptif, dan hemat energi dibandingkan sistem komputer konvensional.<\/p>\n<p>Saat ini, neuromorphic computing masih merupakan bidang riset yang belum banyak diaplikasikan secara nyata.
