Secara umum, semakin besar nilai transkonduktansi suatu perangkat, semakin besar pula gain (penguatan) yang dapat dihasilkannya, dengan asumsi semua faktor lainnya tetap konstan.<\/p>\n<p>Secara formal, untuk perangkat bipolar, transkonduktansi didefinisikan sebagai rasio perubahan arus kolektor terhadap perubahan tegangan basis dalam selang waktu yang sangat kecil pada kurva arus kolektor terhadap tegangan basis. Untuk FET, transkonduktansi adalah rasio perubahan arus drain terhadap perubahan tegangan gate dalam selang waktu yang sangat kecil pada kurva arus drain terhadap tegangan gate.<\/p>\n<p>Simbol transkonduktansi adalah <em>g<\/em><sub>m<\/sub>. Satuan yang digunakan adalah <strong>siemens<\/strong>, yaitu satuan yang sama dengan yang digunakan untuk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/conductance\/\">konduktansi<\/a> arus searah (DC).<\/p>\n<h3>Rumus Transkonduktansi<\/h3>\n<p>Jika <em>dI<\/em> mewakili perubahan arus kolektor atau drain yang disebabkan oleh perubahan kecil dalam tegangan basis atau gate <em>dE<\/em>, maka transkonduktansi dapat dinyatakan dengan rumus:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\/\"><em>g<\/em><sub>m<\/sub> = <em>dI<\/em> \/ <em>dE<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ketika selang perubahan tegangan basis atau gate semakin kecil mendekati nol, nilai <em>dI<\/em> \/ <em>dE<\/em> mendekati kemiringan garis singgung pada kurva di titik tertentu.
