Saat kapasitas penyimpanan sudah mendekati batas, kita cukup menambahkan array baru untuk memperbesar kapasitas. Scale-out storage memanfaatkan tambahan ruang dari perangkat-perangkat tersebut untuk meningkatkan performa dan kapasitas jaringan penyimpanan.<\/p>\n<p>Sebelum scale-out populer, banyak perusahaan membeli storage array dengan kapasitas besar sejak awal demi mengantisipasi kebutuhan jangka panjang. Tapi kalau ternyata kebutuhan penyimpanan tidak sebesar yang diperkirakan, banyak ruang disk jadi mubazir.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan arsitektur scale-out, perusahaan bisa mulai dengan investasi kecil karena tidak harus memperkirakan kebutuhan jangka panjang. Kalau sewaktu-waktu kapasitas perlu ditambah, array baru tinggal ditambahkan tanpa batasan berarti.<\/p>\n<section id=\"pillar-cluster-splash\/\">\n<h2>Scale-Out vs. Scale-Up Storage: Apa Bedanya?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/scalability\/\">Skalabilitas<\/a> adalah kemampuan sistem untuk tetap berjalan optimal saat ukurannya diperbesar atau diperbesar sesuai kebutuhan pengguna. Contohnya adalah menambah RAM atau CPU ke server agar performanya meningkat.
