Dalam konteks byte, nibble bisa merujuk ke empat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/bit-binary-digit\/\">bit<\/a> pertama atau empat bit terakhir. Karena itu, nibble juga sering disebut sebagai <em>half-byte<\/em>. Istilah <em>nibble<\/em> masih nyambung dengan konsep &#8220;data yang bisa dikunyah&#8221;, sama seperti <em>bit<\/em> dan <em>byte<\/em>. Kadang-kadang, nibble juga ditulis sebagai <em>nybble<\/em> atau <em>nyble<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Karena nibble terdiri dari data biner, setiap digitnya hanya bisa bernilai 0 atau 1 dalam kombinasi apa pun, misalnya 0010, 0110, 1011, atau 1111. Total kombinasi yang mungkin ada sebanyak 16, yang dihitung sebagai 2<sup>4<\/sup>. Nibble juga bisa direpresentasikan dengan angka <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/hexadecimal\/\">hexadecimal<\/a> (heksadesimal), yaitu sistem bilangan berbasis 16 yang menggunakan angka 0-9 dan huruf A-F untuk merepresentasikan data, termasuk nibble dan byte. Gambar 2 menunjukkan bagaimana data digital dari sebuah file teks kecil yang menggunakan encoding ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) direpresentasikan. Gambar ini menampilkan data dalam format biner serta versi heksadesimalnya (di kolom paling kanan). Byte ini merepresentasikan huruf T (kapital) dalam ASCII, yang memiliki kode <a href=\"https:\/\/proprogramming.org\/list-ascii-codes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\/\">084<\/a>. Nibble pertama dari byte ini, yaitu 0101, direpresentasikan sebagai angka heksadesimal 5, sedangkan nibble kedua, 0100, direpresentasikan sebagai angka heksadesimal 4, sehingga menghasilkan kode heksadesimal 54 untuk byte tersebut.<\/p>\n<h2>Apa itu nibble dalam komunikasi?<\/h2>\n<p>Dalam dunia komunikasi, nibble kadang disebut juga sebagai <em>quadbit<\/em>. Sama seperti nibble pada umumnya, quadbit terdiri dari 4 bit dengan 16 kemungkinan kombinasi. Dalam beberapa kasus, sinyal bisa dikodekan dalam bentuk quadbit ketimbang bit satuan.
