Dengan begitu, TCO bisa memberikan gambaran yang lebih akurat untuk menilai value (biaya vs. return on investment \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/ROI\/\">ROI<\/a>) dibandingkan hanya melihat harga belinya saja.<\/p>\n<p>Secara sederhana, TCO = harga beli awal + biaya operasional selama masa pakai aset.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"main-article-image full-col\" data-img-fullsize=\"https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/rms\/onlineImages\/ROI_example.jpg\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/rms\/onlineImages\/ROI_example_mobile.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/rms\/onlineImages\/ROI_example_mobile.jpg 960w,https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/rms\/onlineImages\/ROI_example.jpg 1280w\" alt=\"how ROI can be calculated\" width=\"519\/\" height=\"226\" \/><figcaption><i class=\"icon pictures\" data-icon=\"z\/\"><\/i>Menghitung ROI: Total cost of ownership (alias biaya yang dikeluarkan) jadi faktor penting untuk menilai return on investment.<\/figcaption><div class=\"main-article-image-enlarge\/\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>Faktor apa saja yang menentukan TCO?<\/h2>\n<p>Secara umum, TCO mencakup biaya langsung, tidak langsung, bahkan biaya tak berwujud yang bisa dikonversi ke nilai uang.<\/p>\n<p>Contoh, TCO sebuah server bisa meliputi harga beli yang mahal, tapi biaya tidak langsungnya mungkin lebih rendah karena dukungan IT yang baik atau manajemen sistem yang simpel berkat antarmuka yang user-friendly.<\/p>\n<p>TCO menghitung semua biaya sejak pembelian sampai perangkat tersebut dihentikan.<\/p>\n<p>Untuk server data center misalnya, TCO meliputi harga awal, perbaikan, biaya maintenance, upgrade, kontrak layanan atau support, integrasi jaringan, keamanan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/software-license\/\">lisensi software<\/a>, hingga pelatihan karyawan.<\/p>\n<p>Bahkan bisa termasuk syarat kredit saat perusahaan membeli produk tersebut. Banyak perusahaan gagal menetapkan satu metodologi yang konsisten. Akibatnya, keputusan pembelian tidak punya dasar informasi yang seragam.<\/p>\n<p>Masalah lain, sulit menentukan lingkup biaya operasional dari sebuah perangkat IT; beberapa faktor biaya tersembunyi sering terlewat, seperti depresiasi dan garansi, atau tidak dibandingkan dengan benar antar produk.<\/p>\n<p>Contoh, biaya support pada satu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxid.net\/istilah\/server\/\">server<\/a> mungkin termasuk biaya suku cadang.
